Entry Requirements

At AcademiX School of Learning, we are committed to providing students with opportunities to pursue advanced-level studies while ensuring they have the academic foundation needed to succeed.

The criteria for consideration of admission into the CAPE are:

General Admission Requirements

  1. Have a minimum of five (5) CSEC® subjects, including English A and Mathematics, at the General Proficiency Level.
    If an applicant does not have a pass in either English A or Mathematics at the time of admission, the applicant may be admitted on the condition that the outstanding subject(s) is/are successfully completed within the first year of study.
    CSEC® passes are defined as Grades I and II for examinations taken before June 1998, or Grades I, II and III for examinations taken after June 1998.
  2. Meet the prerequisite CSEC® subject requirements for the CAPE® advanced-level courses selected.
    Prerequisite requirements may vary by subject. Applicants are encouraged to review the requirements for their intended CAPE® courses before applying.

Requirements for Mature Applicants

AcademiX School of Learning recognizes that academic readiness can also be demonstrated through professional experience, private study, and previous learning.

Individuals who do not meet the standard academic entry requirements may be considered for admission as mature students, provided their previous educational background, private study, work experience, and/or other relevant experience indicate a strong likelihood of academic success.

A mature student is defined as an individual;

    1. 21 years of age and older, whose previous school performance, private study, and/or recent work record and experiences suggest strong possibilities for academic success;
    2. Who has relevant work experience;
    3. Who has no secondary school, college or university level studies within the last five years;
    4. Who has had no secondary school, college, or university level studies within the last five (5) years.
    5. Who shall also meet any other stipulated requirements of the Programmes Unit offering the Programme of study under consideration.

Mature applicants are assessed based on the scope and extent of their previous learning and experience in relation to the entry requirements of the programme they wish to pursue.

Meeting the mature student criteria does not automatically guarantee admission. Applicants must satisfy the relevant programme requirements and complete the AcademiX admissions process.
